Perry Novak
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY, Perry's interest in music started with drum lessons at the age of five, being influenced by two older brothers Art and Mark. His brother Mark had a garage band that Perry would watch and then join in on his favorite song at the time - "Wipe Out"! Perry began using his brother's guitar and taking lessons at the age of seven and started playing guitar professionally at the age of 14 ( Myopic Void )- school dances and even a few local nightclubs. After high school, Perry joined a group called Eden and began his recording career at Sounds Interchange Studio in Toronto, Canada where he even got to meet members of the Rolling Stones who were recording there also. In 1977 Perry began Teaching Guitar lessons in a Local Music store ( Grizanti Music ) where he averaged fifty students a week for twenty years , specializing in Technique, Music Theory and Sight Reading. Ta Ta Swan, Black Widow, Xrays, Sidewinder, The USA Band, and The Storm are some of the bands Perry performed with throughout the seventies, eighties, and nineties until forming The Perry Novak Band.
After hearing acts like Alabama, Restless Heart, and Steve Wariner, Perry decided to go country and fell in love with its guitar licks. In 1989, Perry met Wayne Patton, Vice President of Publishing for CBS Canada which led to his first major release in 1991 (Getting Use To This Abuse) on WEA Canada, followed by a CD entitled "Never So Strong" released by Holborne Distributing. During this time, Perry was the opening act for many groups, including Steve Wariner, Mark Chestnut, Glen Campbell, Eddie Rabbit, etc. One of his most memorable events was performing for Dick Clark at the Nabisco Shredded Wheat 100 Year Anniversary Party.
While with Holborne, Perry teamed up with keyboardist Bob Volkman and released three relaxation CDs - Emerald Mist, Sapphire Sky, and The Music of Gordon Lightfoot.
Perry wrote and performed a children's Christmas song entitled Waiting Up For Santa which was released in the movies "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause" and "Angel in the Family". It also was featured on the MTV series, The Osbournes (Season 1, Episode 5).
Perry's newest releases were influenced by his younger smooth jazz loving twin sisters, Hope and Holly. What began as one song for his sisters, led to a new found love of smooth jazz and two completed CDs with more in the works.
Perry has been building and repairing Guitars since High School and now is offering his Custom Electric solid body Guitars to the public
